How old are the competitions?
The Miss Rhode Island Latina™ began as concurrent events in 1986 in Providence, Rhode Island. Miss Teen Rhode Island Latina™ made its debut in 2003 in Providence, Rhode Island.

Are these competitions related to Miss Latina US™ or Miss Latin America®?
Yes. The Miss Rhode Island Latina™ Pageant is the official Rhode Island State preliminary to Miss Latina US™, national competition exclusively for U.S. Latinas; the preliminary pageant to the most prestigious and famous international pageant in the world—the Miss Latin America®.

When are the competitions held?
Miss Rhode Island Latina™ and Miss Teen Rhode Island Latina™ beauty pageants are generally held at the end of Spring or beginning of Summer. Dates are usually tentative and may vary from year to year.

Where are the competitions held?
Miss Rhode Island Latina™ and Miss Teen Rhode Island Latina™ beauty pageants are generally held at the Rhodes On The Pawtuxet in Cranston, Rhode Island. This event venue has been the house of the pageant since its second year in existence.

Who produces these beauty pageant competitions?
The Miss Rhode Island Latina™ and Miss Teen Rhode Island Latina™ pageants are produced by the Miss RI Latina Pageant Corporation, a M.S.C. venture.

How many women compete?
In the case of Miss Rhode Island Latina™, between 8 and 15 candidates compete. For Miss Teen Rhode Island Latina™, 8 to 12 contestants participate in the competition.

Are there age requirements?
Yes. Miss Rhode Island Latina™ contestants must be at least 17 years of age by September 1st and under 26 years of age by December 31st in the year they compete in the competition. Miss Teen Rhode Island Latina™ candidates must be at least 13 years of age by August 1st and under 16 years of age by December 31st in the year they compete in the competition.

Can a delegate compete more than once?
Contestants may compete more than once in the State competition. Miss Teen Rhode Island Latina™ may compete in Miss Rhode Island Latina™ but only after her reign has ended and still meets the Pageant’s prerequisites.

Can contestants be married?
No. Contestants may not be married or pregnant. They must not have ever been married, not had a marriage annulled nor given birth to a child. The titleholders are also required to remain single throughout their reign.

How are the semi-finalists chosen?
All contestants are judged in three areas of the competition:
1. Interviews - Judges about each delegate’s successes, goals and ambitions.
2a. Swimsuit Competition - Each delegate wears one of a variety of swimsuit styles that may or may not be provided by a sponsor.
2b. Fashion Competition - Miss Teen Rhode Island Latina™ delegates wear one of a variety of outfit fashion garments that may or may not be provided by a sponsor or an outfit which she has chosen for herself.
3. Evening Gown Competition - Each delegate wears a gown she has chosen for herself.
All scores are tallied in each of the three categories. The contestants with the highest aggregate scores are named the semi-finalists. The competition is narrowed once more to produce the winner.

How are the titleholders and runners-up selected?
Once the finalists are named, the same three areas Interview, Swimsuit (or Fashion for Miss Teen Rhode Island Latina™), and Evening Gown are judged. The judges' scores in these categories are tallied and the winners are named live on the air.

What prizes do the winners receive?
Each Titleholder is awarded cash and prizes from the Official Sponsors.

What happens after they win?
Part of each titleholder's prize is to represent Miss Rhode Island Latina™ or Miss Teen Rhode Island Latina™ during her reign. Miss Rhode Island Latina™ and Miss Teen Rhode Island Latina™ titleholders will work with local charities and non-profit organizations. Titleholders also attend local and regional festivals, events, and/or special functions. Miss Rhode Island Latina™ and Miss Teen Rhode Island Latina™, while continuing their education, focus on issues that impact teens across the State of Rhode Island and the local community.
